Kahlil Gibran’s "The Prophet" movie, co-financed by FFA Private Bank, at the 2014 Cannes Film Festival

FFA Private Bank, the leading regional private bank headquartered in Beirut, is pleased to announce that Salma Hayek's production of the animated movie based on Gibran Khalil Gibran's The Prophet, will be included at the upcoming Festival de Cannes 2014. The movie, co-financed by FFA Private Bank, will be partially screened for the first time in the “Hors Compétition et Séances Spéciales” category, during an event at the Grand Théatre Lumière on Saturday May 17th 2014.


Gibran Khalil Gibran’s 89-year-old classic The Prophet has been adapted to the big screen as an animated movie involving internationally acclaimed and award-winning filmmakers from around the globe, under the direction of Roger Allers (The Lion King) and the leadership of Salma Hayek, who will be producing the animation alongside Clark Peterson and Ron Senkowski, with music composed by Oscar-winner Gabriel Yared.


The Prophet is one of the best-selling books of all time, having sold over 100 million copies since its original publication in 1923. The Lebanese-born Gibran is the third most-read poet in history; his works have been translated into more than 40 languages.
